Beatrice Fox Scholarship
SIGMA GAMMA RHO SORORITY, INC. CENTRAL REGION UNDERGRADUATE GRANT
​
Soror Beatrice Fox was inducted into Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. through the Zeta Chapter. She then transferred to Alpha Lambda Sigma Alumnae Chapter in Cleveland, OH. There she served as Basileus for two concurrent sorority terms. Soror Fox later received the Blanche Edwards Award in 1954. She served as Grand Grammateus from 1951-1959. In 1972, she organized and founded the National Pan-Hellenic Council of Greater Cleveland. As a result of her exemplary service to the community and passion for youth, a scholarship was established and named in her honor by the National Pan-Hellenic Council of Greater Cleveland.

Scholarship Eligibility Criteria:

1. Each applicant must be an undergraduate member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority. She must be in good financial standing on all levels. The application and all other materials must be submitted by 4 p.m. on the last Friday of February.
2. Each applicant must show evidence of need.
3. Each applicant must be a current, full-time student in a college or university and NOT a graduating senior. A current transcript showing a minimum of 2 semesters of completed work and enrolled for at least 2 semesters still to be completed with a grade point average of 2.5 must be submitted.
4. Each applicant must have exhibited leadership in her chapter.
5. Each applicant must possess high standards of character and reputation.
6. Each applicant must submit an essay (2 pages maximum, double-spaced) to include a brief biographical sketch. In the essay, the applicant must include a statement of need.
7. Three letters of recommendation must be submitted: one must verify admittance of the college or university toward an undergraduate degree.
8. Each applicant must submit a list of involvement in church and community activities.
9. Applications failing to meet the standards set above will be disqualified for consideration of the scholarship.
Michelle B. Neal Scholarship (OB)
SIGMA GAMMA RHO SORORITY, INC. CENTRAL REGION ALUMNAE GRADUATE GRANT

Our 16th Central Region Syntaktes Michelle B. Neal joined Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated through Zeta Nu Chapter at Northern Illinois University. She later transferred to Delta Sigma Alumnae Chapter, Chicago, Illinois. She served as Chapter Basileus, Undergraduate Advisor, Regional Undergraduate Chapter Coordinator, Central Region Syntaktes and National Nominating Chairwoman. She co-authored the Installation of Officers Ceremony for our Sisterhood. She serves currently as one of the National Education Fund Advocates. The Michelle B. Neal Alumnae Scholarship was created to fill a gap and support Alumnae sorors in their continuing educational journey. It will provide one qualified Alumnae member with a $500 scholarship. Scholarships are awarded in the off Boule years. It will be awarded to one qualified Alumnae Soror for study towards an advanced degree.

Scholarship Eligibility Criteria:

1. The applicant must submit a completed grant application and any other required materials to the Central Region Scholarship Committee Chairperson. The application and all other materials must be submitted by 4 p.m. on the last Friday of February.
​
2. Each applicant must submit proof of matriculation at a 4 year accredited college or university into an advanced degree program of study by submitting an electronic copy of their transcript which also shows their GPA. The minimum acceptable GPA will be a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
3. Each applicant must submit an essay (2 pages maximum, double spaced) with a brief biographical sketch and a statement of their career goals and aspirations. It should briefly state the reasons for why the applicant deserves the scholarship.
4. Three letters of recommendation must be submitted: one must speak to the applicant's character, one must address the applicant's professional or academic abilities and accomplishments, the third must identify the applicant's sorority involvement.
5. Applications failing to meet the standards set above will be disqualified for consideration of the grant.
Dr. LaRona J. Morris Undergraduate Grant
SIGMA GAMMA RHO SORORITY, INC. CENTRAL REGION UNDERGRADUATE GRANT

Our 19th Past International Grand Basileus Dr. LaRona Jane Morris was inducted into Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated through the Gamma Beta Chapter at SIUE in 1970. In 1974, she transferred to the Alumnae Chapter of Alpha Upsilon Sigma in East St. Louis, Illinois. There she served as Chapter Basileus. She held several International Offices including Grand Anti-Grammateus, Grand Grammateus, and International Grand Basileus. She developed and implemented Operation Big Book Bag and our Youth Symposium. She left a legacy that will go on to reach generations to come. The Dr. LaRona J Morris grant will provide two qualified Central Region Undergraduate members with $250 to be used for textbooks and/or school supplies. It will be awarded during Boule years. All applicants must meet the following criteria

Scholarship Eligibility Criteria:

1. The applicant must submit a completed grant application and any other required materials to the Central Region Scholarship Committee. The application and all other materials must be submitted by 4 p.m. on the last Friday of February.

2. Each applicant must submit proof of matriculation at a 4 year accredited college or university by submitting an official copy of their transcript which also shows their GPA. Applicants should NOT be a graduating senior. The minimum acceptable GPA will be a 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.

3. Each applicant must submit an essay (2 pages maximum, double spaced) which includes a brief biographical sketch. In the essay, the applicant must state the importance of Operation Big Book Bag to her community and demonstrate how she can assist or has supporting documentation of participation in community service that supports the mission of Operation Big Book Bag should also be submitted with the application.
4. Two letters of recommendation must be submitted: One from the sponsoring Alumnae Chapter Advisor and one from a member of the applicant's community.
5. Applications failing to meet the standards set above will be disqualified for consideration of the grant.
Affiliate Grant
SIGMA GAMMA RHO SORORITY, INC. CENTRAL REGION AFFILIATE GRANT

This scholarship will provide affiliate members from the Central Region with financial assistance which will enable them to defray the cost of their college/university educational materials. Applicants will need to document their need for the stipend. Recipients will be awarded the th stipend the following February. The awardees will be 2 Philo Members, and 2 Rhoer Members (recently graduated and in their first year of college or graduating high school senior Rhoer). The amounts of the stipends are $250. Stipend recipients must provide proof of enrollment in a college/university for funds disbursement.

2. The applicant must be a Philo or Rhoer in good financial standing on all levels of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated.
3. Rhoer Club applicants must be a current graduating high school senior or have graduated from high school no earlier than the last academic year ending in the Spring. Rhoers Club applicants that graduated in the Spring must submit a high school transcript and a current college course schedule.
4. Philo Club applicants must submit proof of matriculation at a 4 year accredited college or university or admission letter.
5. The minimum acceptable GPA will be a 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, an unofficial transcript is acceptable.
6. Each applicant must submit an essay (1 page maximum, double-spaced) explaining your need for the stipend.
7. Each applicant must submit a list of community involvement.
8. Applications failing to meet the standards set above will be disqualified for consideration of the grant.
Education Materials Stipend
SIGMA GAMMA RHO SORORITY, INC. CENTRAL REGION EDUCATION STIPEND

This scholarship will provide members of our Sigma Family from the Central Region with financial assistance which will enable them to defray the cost of their college/university educational materials. Applicants will need to document their need for the stipend. Recipients will be awarded the stipend during Founder's Week. The awardees will be 1 Alumnae, 1 Undergraduate, 1 Philo, and 1 Rhoer Member (Rhoers recently graduated and in their first year of college or graduating high school senior). The amounts of the stipends are $250. Stipend recipients must provide proof of enrollment in a college/university for funds disbursement.
